Batteries and wires are part of the circuit, so I classify them as components. The current battery management system has two management modes: active balancing and passive balancing. Passive equalization is also called lossy equalization. It uses energy consumption to limit the charging current of the battery cell with the highest voltage to achieve charge equalization with the battery cell with lower voltage. The main advantages are simple control and small size, but the disadvantage is waste of energy; Active equalization is also called lossless equalization. Through energy supplementation, the charging current of the battery cell with the lowest voltage is supplemented to achieve charge balance with the battery cell with a higher voltage. It is characterized by the need to supplement energy from the outside, and the DCDC power of the BMS must be large.

Many lithium batteries now have protection boards inside to prevent lithium batteries from overcharging, over-discharging, or output short-circuiting and causing excessive current to damage the battery. This lithium battery protection board can detect the output current of the lithium battery. When the positive and negative electrodes of the lithium battery are short-circuited, the detection IC on the protection board detects the excessive current and outputs a control signal to protect the MOS field effect transistor on the board. Cut off, thereby shutting down the output of the lithium battery, so the positive and negative electrodes of the lithium battery with a protective plate are directly short-circuited with wires and will not be damaged.
