Power cable generally use RVV cables, also called sheathed wires. Because the sheathed wire has an extra layer of sheathing than the wire, the name comes from this. What should I do if the multi-core wire is broken?
To be precise, this depends on the actual situation. If only the outer sheath layer is damaged, but the insulation layer of the inner wire is not damaged, and the plug is used in a dry environment, then it is OK to directly wrap it with electrical tape. As for the insulating tape, the most commonly used PVC electrical tape. Note that if your plug power cord is used in a damp place, or even needs to be put in water, you can't use electrical PVC tape, but need to use special waterproof tape.
1. Choose a tape with a suitable width, and clean the area that needs to be wound, free of oil, dust, etc.
2. Uncover the isolation film on the tape (the white one in the picture above is the isolation film)
3. Start winding with the black part of the tape. When winding it, make the tape longer. The width of the stretched tape will be 3/4 of the original width, and then wind it in a semi-overlapping manner.
4. After wrapping, pinch the tape with your hands to make it smooth, compliant, and free of bubbles...
If not only the outer sheath layer is damaged, but the insulation layer of the inner wire is also damaged, but the copper core in the plug power cord is not damaged. Then you can cut the outer sheath layer of the sheath wire with a knife (be careful not to damage the insulation layer of the inner wire), and then wrap the broken wires in the sheath wire one by one with PVC tape. Then use PVC tape on the outermost two or three layers as a protective layer (if the wire is used in a damp place, the outermost protective layer should use waterproof tape instead of PVC tape).
If not only the outer sheath layer is damaged, but also the insulation layer of the inner wire and the copper core in the wire are damaged, at this time, the wires must be cut off and reconnected. Then wrap them one by one with PVC tape, and finally wrap two or three layers of tape on the outside as a protective layer. (Similarly, if the wire is used in a damp place, the outermost protective layer should use waterproof tape instead of PVC tape).
